Anthony L Buckles, MD/ M.Min

 

Anthony L Buckles, MD, who is often called a modern-day “St Luke”, is a Family Practice/ Emergency Room physician and ordained elder within the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.  He is a native of Roxie, Mississippi, and is presently living in the great city of Chicago, Illinois.  Dr. Buckles is a board certified physician and member of the American Academy of Family Physician who presently holds state medical license for the State of Illinois, Indiana and Mississippi. Presently, Dr. Buckles works as an ER physician attendant and ER medical director at Roseland Community Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and as an ER physician at Metro South Medical Center, Blue Island, Illinois, Natchez Merit Health Hospital, Natchez, MS and Garden Park Medical Center, Gulfport, MS.  Dr. Buckles has served in the past as an ER attendant for several hospitals throughout Alabama, Mississippi and Illinois.  Dr. Buckles is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc, the National Civil Rights Museum Institute, and the NAACP and a board member for Aenon Bible College.

 

Dr. Buckles tries to live and strive by the conviction of the motto “Culture for service and service for humanity”.  As an undergraduate student at Xavier University, he was one of the founders of a service fraternity called “The Brotherhood of Ujima” which was founded on the Kwanzaa principles of collective work and responsibility.  Through this brotherhood, he and other African American collegiate brothers became mentor and big brothers to high-risk young men in the local school system in New Orleans.  Dr. Buckles continued with his mission work and community work as a medical student at UAB in Birmingham by volunteering at a local homeless shelter while he was a member of Faith Apostolic Church in Birmingham, AL.  Dr. Buckles became an international missionary in 2002 under the leadership of Evg. (Bishop) Mona Reide, and he joined the PAW Mission team to Ghana, Africa.  As he grew in his career in medicine, Dr. Buckles became more involve in foreign mission trips and has served as a medical doctor and minister on several medical outreach mission trips for the PAW International Mission Department team to Ghana, Africa, and Dominican Republic.  Dr. Buckles joined Hope International Mission Outreach Team several years ago and now serve as their head medical physician for medical outreach to South Africa, Haiti and Dominican Republic.  Dr. Buckles also recently organized and led a medical outreach medical clinic for the Puerto Rico District Council of the PAW, Inc., under the leadership of Bishop Gregory Irvin.  Dr. Buckles has dedicated himself in foreign mission for the past 16 years. 

 

Dr. Buckles has been a gifted musician since the age of 5, and has served as musician and minister of music for several churches throughout the state of Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana.  Presently, Dr. Buckles serves as an ordained elder at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Morgan Park, Chicago, Illinois, under the leadership of Pastor Bill Ellis, where he is involved as an instructor in the ministry training program.  Dr. Buckles also presently serves as the online dean for Aenon Bible College, the 1st Vice president of the International Single People Alliance of PAW, Inc., the IPYPU Financial Advisor, and a staff member / physician for the Internal Health Professional Ministry at the PAW International Convention.
